Maoist dissidents accuse leadership of abandoning revolution

A group of Maoist dissidents have started coalescing accusing the leadership of abandoning the revolution.

“If the current attitude persists, this will mean abortion of revolution,” claimed Laxman Tharu aka Roshan, who is said to be the coordinator of CPN-Maoists - United Rebels Front. He had earlier defected from the Maoist party where he used to head the Tharu wing.

Claiming that his group will continue the revolution, Tharu boasted in his talks with Kantipur TV that he has army strength of three battalion at his immediate disposal. Saying there are 4000 workers with him, Tharu added that PLA fighters in cantonments are also in his contact.

“Most of the deserters have come into our contact,” he further claimed.

The front has given a month long ultimatum to the Maoists to walk out of the government. It has demanded destruction of India-constructed dams, which have caused flooding on the Nepali side. It has also demanded action based on Rayamajhi commission report and has threatened to take “people’s action” if the government does not pay heed to their demands. nepalnews.com sd Aug 04 07

Maoists to abstain from voting on budget

A monkey never makes his/her own house neither allows other to make their house. This is what maoists of Nepal are proving themselves to be. They are protesting the budget prepared by the govt. of which they are also the part.

---------------------------------------------

Maoists to abstain from voting on budget

The CPN-Maoists have decided to refrain from the voting on the budget presented by the government of which it is a part. Analyzing that the coalition government of which the party is an important constituent ‘may fail if it votes against the budget’, the Maoists will ‘facilitate’ in ratifying it by abstaining from voting on the budget.

Chief Whip of the CPN-Maoist Dinanath Sharma had by calling a press meet Tuesday made public the party’s 16-point objection on the budget. “The budget is not in tune with the spirit of the people’s war and the people’s movement,” he said.

The coalition partners have expressed dissatisfaction over this decision of the Maoists and have termed it a dualistic nature of the Maoists. nepalnews.com ag July 18 07

Use YCL to provide security for CA election, says Prachanda

I think Prachanda thinks himself as the only smart guy here in Nepal. That bullshit brag.

---------------------------------------------------------------

Use YCL to provide security for CA election, says Prachanda

Maoist chairman Prachanda has said that using only the Armed Police Force (APF) to provide security for the Constituent Assembly (CA) elections would be 'suicidal.'

He said that Maoist-affiliated Young Communist League (YCL) should also be mobilised alongside the APF for the purpose.

Talking to reporters in Butwal on Monday morning, Prachanda claimed that even former US president Jimmy Carter – during his visit to Nepal last month – had suggested using YCL and police together.

Prachanda conceded that his party's relation with UNMIN had soured a bit in recent weeks over the second stage verification of PLA. He said he suspects there is conspiracy not to integrate PLA into Nepali Army (NA).

Prachanda also slammed the government for allocating budget to the King. nepalnews.com sd Jul 16 07

Businessmen vandalize Maoist office in Rajbiraj

Kantipur Report

RAJBIRAJ, June 14 - Businessmen in Rajbiraj Thursday vandalized and torched Maoist belongings in their Tribhuwan Chowk situated party office.

The businessmen have alleged that the Maoist youth wing Young Communist League (YCL) cadres -- protesting against the killing of their fellow cadres in Rupandehi -- forced them to shut down their shops and even thrashed them.

Two YCL cadres were killed yesterday in clash with Madhesi People's Rights Forum (MPRF) in Rupandehi.

Six businessmen including Baiju Shah and Dinesh Prasad Gupta have been injured by the YCL thrashing.

The irate businessmen set ablaze a computer, six bicycles, some documents and clothes from the Maoist office.

They have handed over a pistol and a grenade, which they found at the Maoist office, to the police.

One more Joke about Maoists

This is another news I got about the Maoists of Nepal. This news is quite funny. I think its high time the Maoists looked within themselves and evaluated their motives and their mission.

Police take into control Prachanda’s vehicle

Police on Tuesday took a jeep used by the Maoist supremo Prachanda under control after businessman Raju Shrestha claimed that the vehicle belonged to him.

Superintendent of Police, Dhak Bahadur Karki confirmed that police seized the vehicle, adding, “The vehicle is in Kathmandu District Police Office, Hanumandhoka. We will hand it over to the person who comes with legal document.”

The Nissan jeep with plate number Ba 5 Pa 1718 was in the parking area of Hotel Ashoka at Bagbazaar when Shrestha, a resident of Budhanilkantha, claimed that the jeep belonged to him and it was stolen. He then got into it and started the vehicle using the spare key he still retained.

But Maoist cadres surrounded the vehicle before Raju could drive away. As a scuffle ensued between Shrestha and Maoist cadres, police arrived at the scene and seized the vehicle.

Shrestha said the Maoists abducted him and forcefully took away the vehicle including some valuables on October 19, 2006. He also said the real number plate of the vehicle was Ba 5 Cha 1718.

Maoist Central leader Ananta said the Maoists were planning to return the vehicle on Wednesday.

“We told Shrestha to come to the police office with sufficient official documents. We will hand over the jeep to the “actual owner” after an investigation,” SP Karki added.

It is said that the jeep is normally used to ferry top Maoist leaders, including Prachanda. nepalnews.com pb Apr 18 07

Prachanda defends weapons count; says he is against foreign investment in media

Defending the low weapons count, Maoist chairman Prachanda has refuted allegations that they have concealed their weapons.

Addressing a press meet in Butwal on Sunday, Prachanda said that since a large number of their weapons were grenades and home-made bombs, which he said the UN did not register as weapons, the total number of their arms was felt to be fewer compared with number of combatants.

Prachanda added that many of their weapons were destroyed in fire and were swept away by river, too, during the course of conflict when the state army attacked houses in villages and when they were transporting weapons across rivers.

His response has come in the wake of growing suspicions that the Maoist might have concealed many weapons after the UNMIN reported that 30852 combatants and 3428 weapons have been registered.

Likewise, the Maoist chairman expressed confidence that the interim government will be formed within a week. He said that once the Maoists join the interim government, they will shoulder the portfolio of Ministry of Information and Communication and change the media policy, particularly regarding foreign investment in media.

Prachanda claimed that foreign investment in media is dangerous for the independence of the nation. Claiming that Maoists were the worst victim of foreign-invested media houses, Prachanda warned they will change the media policy to prevent such investment. nepalnews.com sd Feb 26 07
